Lollies for the ears

Lately I have been experimenting with resin and paint.
It is actually a lot of fun.
You can add some paint or a nice piece of paper inside the earring bezel and top up with some resin.
When dry, the earring looks really nice and shiny.
You can even add a little star inside the resin mix.

Below is my latest earring creations. Some of them you can find in my web shop.

Day trip to visist jewellery designer Wilhelmine Ltd in Lillesand, Norway

This week we have visited jewellery designer Trine @ Wilhelmine Ltd at her shop Kunstkolonialen in Lillesand, Norway.
If you have followed me on my Facebook page "Tilla's Jewellery" you may have seen some of the pictures I have shared from Wilhelmine Ltd. The reason is I really love and admire her jewellery work and I am getting very inspired from her movie clips showing the jewellery she is making.

In January she shared a film clip where she is creating little hearts and this was the extra push I needed to find a jewellery evening class to join.

The shop Kunstkolonialen is a dream with beautiful jewellery and clothes.
On the picture you can see Trine with her co-worker Natali. We talked a little about jewellery making which gave me more inspiration to continue to learn more, to create more jewellery pieces and to keep going.
This is my dream (but I will have to keep my day job).

"LYKKE & ROCK ON" silver jewellery

Time is running and we are back in Norway for a little visit.
Before my trip, I wanted to make a few gifts for close family with coming up birthdays.
I managed to make a couple, but want to make more for future ones as it feels very special to give something so personal.

We have a new little family member in our family. He is now 10 months old and we got to meet him for the first time a week ago.

The "LYKKE" silver necklace (925S) is made for my niece who is the mother of our new family member. LYKKE means happiness which would describe very well what we all feel after having met this little gorgeous man. He has the biggest smile and is full of energy and make us all happy to have him around. It will be very hard to leave this little boy when it is time to return to New Zealand (thank god for Facebook!).

The "ROCK ON" bracelet is for my sister who is a lady full of personality both in her looks and the way she is. She is using this expression sometimes when it is time to move on with whatever you are doing. Very fitting for a busy lady and I think it suits her really well.

More jewellery is ready!

I have found a couple of new beading suppliers, so beading is a little more exciting at the moment.
New material means new ideas.

Below jewellery is added to my Felt shop "northern light" and if you have any questions,
please send me a message.

Wrap around bracelets made of freshwater pearls, swarovski, glass beads, faceted glass beads, hollow rubber tubing with silver colored chain and lobster clasp. These are long enough to be wrapped around the wrist three times to make a lovely statement. Love the dingledangle!

The ring is done and dusted!

My latest project at the jewellery course was to create a silver ring with a bezel and gemstone.
It took a little longer than I planned, but the project evolved as we went.
Now it is finished. It is big and chunky, just the way I like it.

The band and bezel are textured to make it look a little tougher.
The gemstone is a smokey quartz and I think it really suit the ring.

This was a fun project and I learned a lot.
Next project is supposed to be fast and easy. Time will tell if my plan work out this time as I want to have it finished by the time I go home for a visit.

I also want to make more rings, but without the bezel and stone.

This is so much fun! :)

Day off and last news

Hi there!

It is Wednesday and my day off. Every second Wednesday is my day off from a job that quite often can be very stressful. I noticed this week that I have had enough. Monday was a day of hell and I had reached my limit. Yesterday afternoon all phones and email had their out of office notices added and then shut down.
It felt really good.

Woke up to sunshine and beautiful weather today, but it has been a slow day. Not much energy left here and I don't really know how to get it back. No energy for biking, baking or shopping which is quite unusual. So Bella and I have shared a yoghurt in the backyard and we are both happy.

The autumn has arrived, but the weather is still good. I love those crispy mornings and the autumn is very welcome!

Last week, I started on 2nd term of the silver jewellery course.
My second project, the heart pendant is finally finished and you can see a picture on the right side of this page and also below. I have also added a little page on the right side where you can check out my projects when they are completed.

I really enjoy the course and learn a lot. It is very calming to be around people that are creating the most amazing pieces to give away to family. There are some lucky wives, daughters and grandchildren out there. Most people seems to give away their jewellery and do not sell it.
I have not gotten that far that I can make a piece for another person just yet, but hope to get there one day. I would say it is a very special gift to have a piece of jewellery especially made for you!

Still here

Hi everyone,

Happy New Year!
We are well into the new year so better wish you a good one before this year passes as well.

The months has passed since my last article, I am back at work after the holiday in Norway, still biking in the weekends but have also started on a goldsmith evening course. You can see my first project, a silver ring, in the right corner of this page.
It is very interesting and something I always wanted to do and learn. We have now been through both annealing and soldering and my oh my there are a lot of files and sandpapers out there.

If you want to follow me on facebook, please check in on "Torhilds Rollings Beads" where I am writing about new jewellery projects.

We are in the middle of summer here in New Zealand, weather is good and it is lovely with the long days (even though most of them are spent in the office). Anyway, weekends are good. Life is good.
