Competition ring - Double layered Topaz ring

On the 3rd term this year, we were presented with a challenge from our jewellery teacher.
A basket claw setting and a octagonal cubic circona gem were given us with the message that during this term we could create a jewellery piece that included these items.

After an evening of studying pictures and being inspired, I decided to create a double layered ring.
I have never made anything like this before, so needed a lot of advise from the tutors.
I also wanted to change the pink cubic circone we were given to a lovely topaz I bought a few years ago. They were exactly the same size, so this was luckily not a problem.

Below is the ring I made. For me, it is not an everyday ring I would wear to work. I still love it tough - especially the Topaz gem! It is fun to have a ring for special days as well.

If you want to see the winning pieces, have a look at my Facebook page "TillaFrost".

925S Sterling silver "Birchwood" ring

LATEST PROJECT - BIRCHWOOD RING

This sterling silver ring is sleek and modern and has been handmade using traditional silversmith techniques.
The ring is hammered to create the grain pattern of wood and sand blasted to create a slightly matte finish.

The ring is 5mm wide and can be made to your measures.
For more information, please check Tilla's web shop where you also can make an order.

The ring is done and dusted!

My latest project at the jewellery course was to create a silver ring with a bezel and gemstone.
It took a little longer than I planned, but the project evolved as we went.
Now it is finished. It is big and chunky, just the way I like it.

The band and bezel are textured to make it look a little tougher.
The gemstone is a smokey quartz and I think it really suit the ring.

This was a fun project and I learned a lot.
Next project is supposed to be fast and easy. Time will tell if my plan work out this time as I want to have it finished by the time I go home for a visit.

I also want to make more rings, but without the bezel and stone.

This is so much fun! :)
